Guest of Honor and Featured Speakers

Sujana Chandrasekhar, MD
Otolaryngology Guest of Honor: Sujana Chandrasekhar, MD

Dr. Chandrasekhar is a fellowship trained Otologist/Neurotologist who completed her medical school training at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, internship and residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at New York University Medical Center, and her fellowship in otology/neurotology at the House Ear Clinic and Institute, in Los Angeles, California. She has held leadership positions at the most prestigious organizations in her field, serving as President of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery where she was also Past Chair of their Board of Governors and Secretary/Treasurer of the American Otological Society.  Dr. Chandrasekhar is also a Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology, Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra-Northwell, Clinical Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Consulting Editor, Otolaryngology Clinics of North America, and Director of Neurotology, JJ Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Troy Woodard, MD
Otolaryngology Featured Speaker: Troy Woodard, MD

Dr. Woodard attended Loyola University Medical Center where he successfully completed his Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency training and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 2008. While in residency, Dr. Woodard served on the governing council and was the BOG Legislative Representative for the Section for Residents and Fellows in the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.   Following his otolaryngology residency, Dr. Woodard pursued additional clinical training as a clinical fellow in Advanced Rhinology and Sinus Surgery at Medical College of Georgia. Since completion of his medical training in 2009, Dr. Woodard has practiced Rhinology, Sinus and Skull Base Surgery at Cleveland Clinic.  He is a champion for diversity and is involved with several initiatives within the Cleveland Clinic, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the Society of University Otolaryngologists.  Dr. Woodard is currently the president of the Harry Barnes Medical Society, Chair of the Section of Otolaryngology of the National Medical Association and Co-Chair of the Minority Physician Resource Group at the Cleveland Clinic, and current Chair of the Board of Governors for the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

Debra Goldstein, MD
Ophthalmology Guest of Honor – Debra Goldstein, MD

Dr. Debra Anne Goldstein received her medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where she subsequently completed an ophthalmology residency.  She then pursued a fellowship in uveitis and ocular immunology at McGill followed by a second year fellowship in uveitis at the University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Goldstein published over 250 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and has lectured widely all over the world.  She has conducted extensive investigator initiated and multicenter research projects.  She has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the Senior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Life Achievement Honor award from the American Academy Award, the AAO Secretariat Award for special contributions to the Academy, Unsung Hero recognition from the AAO, as well as an AOA clinical teaching award. She was twice awarded the Golden Apple award for Best Teacher in Ophthalmology when she was professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  In April of 2017 she was awarded the prestigious Magerstadt Professorship in Ophthalmology.  In 2021 she became an ARVO Fellow.  Dr. Goldstein is currently the Magerstadt Professor of Ophthalmology as well as the Director of the Uveitis Service in the department of Ophthalmology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine

Michelle T. Cabrera, MD.
Ophthalmology Featured Speaker – Michelle T. Cabrera, MD

Mimi Cabrera is an associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of Washington and Head of Ophthalmology at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She serves as the Chair of the Dean’s Standing Committee for Women in Medicine and Science for the University of Washington School of Medicine. After completing a degree in Biological sciences at Stanford University, Mimi graduated from both medical school and ophthalmology residency at UCSF and went on to complete a pediatric ophthalmology clinical and research fellowship at the Duke Eye Center. She then joined faculty as an assistant professor at UNC Chapel Hill before moving back to the west coast to join faculty at UW. She is a recipient of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation Career Starter Grant and the Alcon Research Institute Young Investigator Award for her imaging research using handheld OCT in ROP. She is also an internationally recognized leader on prevention of sexual harassment in ophthalmology, earning her the Women in Ophthalmology Champions for Change Award and the AAO Achievement Award.
